Balancing Your Container Garden

Posted: Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 | Filed under: The Green Thumb

Greetings from the Farm at Green Village, New Jersey. A customer just bought a young Japanese Maple from our nursery garden, and a very large pot to go with it. Usually customers plant trees, but this customer is using it in a container garden. As the largest nursery gardening and garden supplies center in the New York Metro-northern New Jersey area, we get a very good sense of how garden styles change over the years, and container gardening is one of the big trends we see for 2010. Here’s a simple rule that will help you enjoy your container garden even more: Make sure the plants and containers are balanced.

The pot or container shouldn’t be too small or large for the plant, and vice versa. Make sure there is balance in the arrangements and groupings of your containers. Balance in size and shape, and in color of the plants you select, too. If you’d like more ideas or advice, come visit us at the Farm. We have thousands of garden plants and trees to choose from for your flower garden or yard. And we have the largest selection of containers and garden accents in the region. Our friendly staff of experts can set you up with everything you need to get started – or to put the finishing touch on the garden of your dreams.
